There is something deeply satisfying about pulling an old favourite from your inventory and discovering that it still works. No excuses required, no “this was great back in the day” qualification. It simply looks good.

In this case, it is Mandala’s Legends Never Die necklace, which has been sitting in my inventory for who knows how long and, rather conveniently, appears determined to live up to its name. I love the long, slightly quirky pendant against this very simple striped dress from Spectacledchic, coming to Kustom9. The dress has that wonderfully easy, oversized T shirt shape that needs very little interference, so one long necklace is really all I wanted with it.

I kept that same ease going with Ohemo’s Nora slides. They are simple, flat and exactly right with a dress that would lose much of its charm if I tried too hard to dress it up. And that is really the whole outfit: a new dress, easy shoes and one very old piece of jewellery that apparently has no intention whatsoever of becoming obsolete. SL fashion moves ridiculously fast and our inventories become archaeological sites, but sometimes something you bought years ago slips effortlessly between brand new releases and reminds you why you kept it.

For the beauty side, I’m back in LeLUTKA’s Avalon today, wearing Stray Dog’s Olivia with Not Found’s Lorien brows and eyes. I really like the softness of this combination. The brows have enough character without becoming too strong, while the cool blue eyes add a crisp bit of contrast to Olivia’s warm complexion.

Marea by Wasabi, created for Truth Collective and coming to Access, finishes it beautifully. All that soft volume around the face works particularly well with Avalon and Olivia, and gives this otherwise very relaxed look just enough polish.

And yes, after all these years, that Mandala necklace still gets the last word. Legends never die, indeed.
