Where to Start?

It’s Friday—so yay for the weekend! And it’s August 8, which means two major happenings in Second Life today.

First, Collabor88 has flung open its doors for its 14th birthday edition, and it is a thing of beauty. This round’s theme? Romantic Renaissance. Think: soft, draped fabrics, poet sleeves, muted jewel tones, delicate lacework, and accessories that whisper of candlelit banquets and moonlit balconies. It’s an ode to history’s most romantic era—translated into pieces you can actually live in, not just pose in.

Second, Costa di Luce, the long-anticipated Italy-themed sim by landscaping magicians Kaiden and Pandora Tray, has finally opened. Picture cobblestone alleys washed in warm sunlight, the salty breeze off a Mediterranean bay, fishing boats bobbing gently in the water, and window boxes spilling over with bougainvillea. If you close your eyes, you can almost hear the hum of a Vespa disappearing around the corner.

Setting the Scene

Right now, I’m sitting on a terrace overlooking the harbor, listening to Steve Who fill the air with smooth, jazzy tunes. The music is languid, the kind that makes you linger over your drink, smile at strangers, and forget your to-do list ever existed.

In front of me sits a perfectly blistered, thin-crust pizza—the mozzarella bubbling lazily, fresh basil wilting just enough to release its scent. I’m washing it down with an ice-cold Coke, because while wine might be the romantic choice, soda is the honest one. (And no, pineapple is still not welcome on my pizza.)

Today’s Look – Romantic Renaissance Meets Coastal Casual

For today’s outfit, I went casual—but make it birthday-party-at-Collabor88 casual. Almost everything I’m wearing is from this round, with one exception: my forever-favorite Gracie kitten heels from Equal, which have been living in my inventory like a secret weapon.

Face First:
I started at the top with Nicole from The Skinnery—a face with soft features, a hint of classic refinement, and just enough modern edge to keep her from feeling like she stepped out of an oil painting. Paired with Tram’s messy braids, it’s a mix of romantic and effortlessly undone—like I might have been leaning over a balcony all afternoon writing sonnets.

Accessories:
The Solstice set from Yummy—delicate gold with subtle gemstone accents—wraps my neck and ears in just the right amount of shimmer. My nails are Nanda from Belle Epoque, in a soft shade that doesn’t compete with the jewelry.

The Outfit:
These baggy jeans from Ison are the kind of trousers you live in all summer—roomy, relaxed, yet polished. On top, Fashionably Dead’s short Bookworm top, with just enough structure to balance the slouch of the jeans. The long version exists, but proportions matter—and today, the cropped one wins. I also have to salute creators who make “loose” fit versions of tops so they layer better with different bottoms. You are doing the pixel gods’ work.

Sim Opening Etiquette PSA

I had planned to bring my dog along to Costa di Luce, but she’s a certified lag goblin, so she stayed home. For everyone’s sanity:

  • Keep HUDs to a minimum
  • Leave mesh pets & companions at home
  • Ditch the particle spam
  • Retire the combat systems for the day

Fewer scripts, more ambience.

Why You Should Go

Before the live music started, I managed to take a few photos—but honestly, you can’t photograph the way the breeze moves through the sim, or how the shadows fall across the piazza at sunset. This is a place you need to walk through slowly, espresso in hand, letting the details reveal themselves.

And remember: pizza is best enjoyed with beer or soda. And pineapple? Not on mine, grazie. 🍕

Welcome to Pixel Approved. I’m Grazia.

This blog is where I share what I wear, what I see, and what’s on my mind.

Some days, it’s about digital fashion and styling in Second Life. Other days, it’s a personal journal where I unpack random thoughts, trends, or things that just won’t leave my head. I review skins I love, explore beautiful places you might’ve missed, and always keep a sharp eye on details that matter.

If you’re here for virtual fashion, clean edits, smart opinions, or a quiet escape—you’ll feel at home.
