earlier today I was talking about poetry, and while looking up a certain poet, Wilder, I came upon the readpoetry.com site, where I found below poem from Christopher Poindexter. I loved it, and it became the inspiration for a pic that I was taking in Black Dragon. For the first time in a long while, I am back on that viewer, and I definitely need to practice with all the possibilities that this viewer offers.
what terrifies me most is not being able to make sense of my vulnerability my softness is my reward, but the world is cruel and constantly makes me question it
-Christopher Poindexter
Today’s skin is the Holiday special from Avarosa, Raven, worn on LeLutka‘s Raven head. This head is most likely going to be my new default. She’s as classic as Avalon, but with a bit of an edge, like Zora. I am not wearing any make up on above pic, except for Avarosa‘s Lips addon nr. 8 because for some reason, the original lips on the Raven skin have a bit of a weird effect on my face and this addon is perfect to cover that!
Here you have her again, unedited this time, and instead of the addon, I am wearing the tooth layer from the same pack from Avarosa, which I normally don’t really like, but this one is perfect, especially for pictures. My hair is from Doux, Tzuyu, and the blouse and shirt I am wearing here is from the Baggy Overshirt set from Fashionably Dead. My eyes today are Tville‘s, from the Glorious eyes collection, and the Be Kind tattoo on my chest is from Alba.
Once fully dressed in Ascendant’s Carol Blazer and Vannie‘s Pantyhose Elite Diamond Backseam I added KC‘s Nedis pumps and Arnaud Haus‘ PEARL COLLAR BAR Necklace. I just added a little make up from Identity Faces’ Danedelion’s Collection and there we are, done for this elegant yet sexy look.
All items, except for the head, skin, hair and pantyhose are from this weekend’s various sales! Oh, and the elephant ear plant. That’s not from the sales either, but from Dust Bunny!
One of the brands I always buy during the weekend sales is Technofolk. I love their style, even though it is very much not me. I rarely wear their stuff, but I’m in awe with their aesthetics and creativity! So today I decided I will go out in a Technofolk outfit!
However, I have started the day with Guapa‘s Sol skin (weekend sale) on LeLUTKA‘s Avalon head. My hair is by Lueur (also a weekend sale item) and I am wearing COCO Design‘s Ribbed sweater, which is ALSO a weekend sale item. Yet,I am not feeling cheap :D. When I say weekend sale, it can be any of the many. I lose track!
However, with a fierce Technofolk outfit, I felt I needed a fierce makeup, and Identity Faces happens to have out the Love Me collection for the weekend sales, and the smokey glittery eye and glossy burgundy lips are perfect, especially when I added a little contour by Dotty’s Secret (Blended 2, 50%). Quite a difference, eh?
And there we are. 1:100 children are psychopaths? Sounds reasonable when you look at the amount of psycho (and socio-) paths in the world. I think it may actually be a little more!
So all items are by Technofolk here, from the coat and the shirt, to the pants and the harnesses. Only my Lena ankle boots, which you can’t see here, but fit the look very well, are from Gos
I’m still colour-inspired. Ice Blue is another hue that I absolutely love. It’s not for me in RL though, my skin tone gets grey when I wear that icy pale shade of blue. But luckily, in SL you look good in anything! So today’s starting point is Ice blue. And this happened because I was playing with Foxy‘s new hair which will be out tomorrow at Kustom9, which has a headphone build in, and it comes in a couple of lovely pastels, among which this greyish soft blue.
I can’t do without my earphones, I usually wear my Airpods pro, which have noise canceling. I NEED that. I walk around with either those, or my loops (noise-reducing earplugs), a lot because I am so crazy sound sensitive. That doesn’t mean I don’t love sounds. I do, but on my own terms. For instance, when I am putting on my makeup in the morning, I love listening to the Solomun remix of Leonard Cohen’s You want it darker
So anyway, here we go! As mentioned, Foxy‘s Pulse hair, worn on LeLUTKA‘s Avalon today, combined with Not Found‘s April skin, which will also be out for Kustom9, which starts every month on the 15th. The only addition to this lovely skin, are the subtle cheek dimples from Izzie‘s. Today’s eyes are the Legend eyes from Ikon, in the colour Fjord. My shirt (and Bra) are Ison‘s, the Sahari Wrap shirt dress.
Once I got my pixel skin routine out of the way, I used the Wet collection from Identity Faces for today’s make up. The almost iridiscent white of the under eye tint, gives me a super rested look! The lipstick is soft and creamy, from the same collection. When I make these no make up/make up pics, I sometimes cheat a wee bit with my shape, when needed I will slightly adjust the lip ratio, to not have a major bee stung effect on the lipstick version. I did that here too. SL make up creators tend to slightly overdraw the lips, which makes sense, because they will fit on more skins like that, but creat make up artists, I LOVE you for making more feathered lipsticks which stay slightly within the lines!! My make up is finished with a slight dusting of blusher by Evermore, which was a gift at some point. Did a quick blow out, and now my hair is Doux‘ Clover
And here we are, simple, clean and comfy! I am wearing Just Because‘s Yolanda oversized top, which doubles really well as a comfy dress, and I have paired them with Blueberry‘s Maria Boots. My lovely knot choker is by Sigma.
Well hello there! The other day Facebook reminded me of the existence of this little blog of mine, where I focus on skins, make up and hair, and I figured, as the days get shorter, and the temperatures go down, I might as well give it another go here, as I am still taking lots of pics of skins and post them to my flickr, and insta. But those are usually the finished looks, including some makeup and layers, and what I really like is also to show you guys the blank canvas, and what you can achieve with SL makeup and layers. And of course, it’s my way of supporting the awesome creators who always provide us with some new stuff we want!
So before I reboot this, I would like to make two caveats. I am SUCH a LeLUTKA girl. I love their work, how they model their heads and the ease of use of their HUD. I might occasionally branch out to another head, but don’t expect a lot of that here, as pretty much all my makeup and layers and skins are bought for LeLUTKA. Caveat 1: yes, I am on LeLUTKA‘s blogotex. I have free access to their releases and I love the Lelus for their generosity and our long ass relationship which goes all the way back to the early days of SL. Caveat 2: the same goes for Glam Affair. You may remember that at some point I worked as their CSR and I have been on their bloggers & friends list forever. These two brands however are the only ones I am affiliated with. All other heads, skins and make-ups you will see on this blog, I have bought with my own money because I love them!
That out of the way, look at this day’s mug shot.
This is my typical straight-out-of-bed SL look. Hair in a messy bun, whisps from Angel Eyes messy 7 hairbase all over my forehead, and in dire need of some serious moisturizing. Today’s head is Kaya, by LeLUTKA of course, and my eyes are Conviction‘s Skylar eyes. Their highlights are not SUPER realistic, but the overall effect is fresh and awake. Yes, coming to think of it, I might well have had my first caffeine of the day for this pic. My lashes are also by LeLUTKA, they come in the HUD and they are my favourite natural-looking lashes
The skin I am working with is by Eudora Beauty, called Olympia and I added some light blemishes from Izzie’s to add to the out-of-bed look. Also, and this is relatively new, Influence has made some facial deformers, I am wearing both their unisex nose deformer lvl 1 as well as their recently released cheeks deformer lvl1, which just adds that little extra chisel to my otherwise very soft Kaya face.
When at home, I rarely dress up, so today I am wearing Tres Blah‘s Tattered sweater, which is a perfect example of a jersey loved to death that you won’t throw away until it’s worn to its last thread and a not specified pair of pajama shorts.
And there we go, All dolled up! I picked out a new hair from Wings, ER1030, and added a little extra darkness to the greyish-black from the variety HUD. I switched the Olympia skin with brows for the eyebrowless version and added the black Selene brows from Nuve for a more groomed look. I love that Nuve, whenever they release a new skin, they also always have a dedicated eyebrow pack. I wear these a lot, because Nuve‘s brows seriously rock.
For makeup, I went with the Biba kit blush 1 from Jack Spoon. Another one of my favourite makeup creators. and I did my eyes with the new Mercurial eyeshadow from Warpaint. I added some Scha lashes from Anice, a creator relatively new to me, but dang, their lashes are to die for! So that makes for a pretty dramatic eye. I’m contrasting it with a relatively demure lipstick from Identity Faces from the all lipstick Woman collection. It’s a pretty bold look for daytime makeup, but it’s not over the top I think.
Et voilà Ready to go! I am wearing Just Because‘s Sally Sweater dress, which is perfect for these cooler days, with a pair of Ayden chunky boots from Gos and DDL‘s brown Sun purse. My necklace, the finishing touch in this outfit is the Sakura Three Chains necklace from Dark Mouse
