As I am writing this, I am gently floating in a wicker/branch ball through one of the most enchanting places I have ever been to in SL. The landscape surrounding the central tree, which immediately invoked Yggdrasil associations, is continuously changing. A feast of shapes and movement, inspired by the movement of flocks of birds and insects.

The installation is the work of Murmuration—named after the mesmerizing patterns formed by flocks of birds and swarms of insects—is the latest creation by Lalie Sorbet and Chrix. Part of a special SLEA Grant Residency from the Second Life Endowment for the Arts (SLEA). Each moment unique, even when I switch from the in world scene to the blog and back, it’s a whole new world around me! Except for that once constant, the tree, watching it all with endless patience.

Flying bunnies with butterfly eyes? Of course! Don’t mind me just floating by, laughing like a child at all the wonders and awesome transitions.
The idea behind Murmuration was sparked both by the phenomenon of flocking birds and insect swarms as well as Lalie’s real-life photography. These inspirations drove the organic, fluid patterns you see in the sim. Working closely together, Chrix designed and coded a system that unlocks Lalie’s full creative potential—resulting in this ever-evolving, immersive environment where each visit offers a fresh perspective.

I simply had to get a close up of this cute fish wearing a snail hat! The entire installation is one big parade of awesome creatures, accompanied with beautiful music. I can’t stop taking photos here, it’s just so, so beautiful!

Please go experience Murmuration for yourself. Even if your computer is not the best… as the creators state.. graphics settings: none, toaster level!
And this is why I love SL! The level of creativity and artistry is insane!
Your taxi to Murmuration
That’s it for now, be kind! <3
